Smarter Science:

• Provides resources to help scaffold and structure the learning of science and investigation skills;
• Provides lessons that model teaching through inquiry/investigation for Grades 1-12;
• Integrates key literacy and numeracy skills;
• Connects directly to the Ontario Curriculum by reinforcing big ideas and overall expectations for each grade;
• Encourages student interest in formal and informal science education;
• Focuses on high interest, minds-on, hands-on activities that promote inquiry;
• Offers free access to a web-based interface -– lessons, resources, blogs, store;
• Delivers resources moderated to maintain high quality;
• Integrates the 5E model within the Ontario Ministry of Education 3-part lesson plan;
• Is being adopted by school boards across Ontario; agreements are in place with Toronto District School Board, Toronto Catholic District School Board and District School Board of Niagara;
• Has been adopted by Science North, Sudbury, for its educational programming;
• Has received a letter of support from the Ontario Science Centre, which intends to develop a more formal partnership.
